This Mother’s Day, Pam, as she is affectionately called by many including me when I am talking about her rather than to her, is getting something different. Instead of a store-bought card, she is getting an ode to mom, in the form of this here blog post. I hope ya’ll don’t mind joining me on this little adventure we call, showering Pam with Mother’s Day love!
Why? We will get into why she’s so awesome in just a bit. But the reason for the ode on the blog this year is because she is the xoxo, Social Gal’s biggest fan! Regardless of where this blog takes me, I know Pam aka my mom, will be there to support because she’s just that kind of lady! She reads every post, tells me when they are good, calls me out when she sees a typo, and makes it a point to tell me what that she read each one!
Now, I may have had to walk her through how to bookmark this page. And how to subscribe to the email list and how to like the Facebook page but that is a story for a different day.
I wish everyone had the “Pam” kind of support in their corner! The world would be a better place.
More About Pam
I could write 1,000 words in this ode to mom because she is simply the best. But I will try to keep this post short and sweet! Plus, it will probably make her cry. So rather than make her sob for 10 minutes while reading, we will keep it brief.
Pam is my mom-hopefully you figured that out by now. She lives several states away but is still the most supportive person (besides my dad and Andrew) that I know. She is funny. Mostly because we spend a lot of time laughing at her silly antics but still. She is kind-too kind at least compared to my dad and I. She is smart even though she thinks she knows EVERYTHING. And she raised me. What could be better than that?
Pam loves doxies and is the current wrangler of one ferocious beast name Libby. She is known for her dog-walking skills in that she has been tripped up and found spread eagle in the yard by the doing of a 10-pound dachshund.
Pam also loves purses. Probably where I get much of my love of fashion from. She has amassed herself quite a collection of Dooneys in every shape and color. But none of them are used because she is saving them all for a rainy day. Don’t ask-I don’t understand it either. Just another Pam quirk.
Pam never learned to drive a stick-shift despite my dad’s best efforts and she never could quite figure out how a tanning bed worked (talk about a flashback to the old days). She drops everything she touches. And her absolute favorite word is “oops.” That word can single-handedly send my father into a tizzy because he knows what follows is probably a mess.
No one else like her. . .
Despite all of these quirks, we could not love Pam any more than we already do! We love her for all the quirks, the laughs that make her snort, the I can’t believe she did or said that head shakes and the never-ending support whether you asked for it or not.
I rest assured there is no one else like Pam. No one else could mother me so well. Put up with all my antics. Support all my dreams-be them far-fetched or easily attainable.
Pam is mom. My mom is Pam. She is my best friend. My #1 fan. The first supporter of all things even the ones I sucked at (like dance and the clarinet). She isn’t afraid to tell me “no” or that I am being over-reactive and she is always a phone call or 8-hour car ride away when I need her.
So on this Mother’s Day 2020, one where we are all still couped up and unable to be with the ones we love, we write an ode to mom about them. We put it out there for the world to see but more importantly for them to read how much we love them. Because Pam, I love you times 1000 and then some! You da best! And I can’t wait to hug you in person very soon!
Happy Mother’s Day!
And to any other mommas, mom’s to be and those with mom’s, Happy Mother’s Day and do not forget to show those special to you, just how special they are!
